Since the middle of last week, I have observed an increase in flu-like symptoms among students. The protocol for fever/sickness is to be fever/vomit/diarrhea-free for a FULL 24 hours without medication before returning to school. However, with influenza, students can be contagious for 5-7 days after the first symptom appears. (If running a fever, they are more than likely still contagious. I am seeing some students returning to school too soon (before the 5-day mark) and experiencing a recurrence of fever; this indicates that the student is still contagious. Please keep your child home if they are sick, and ensure your student is fully well before returning to school. If you are concerned about attendance, please contact the school, and we can give you guidance. Please help us stop the spread!
